Dr Pradeep Balakrishnan
Dr Pradeep Balakrishnan is a Monash University, Melbourne medical graduate with extensive physician training and experience acquired at various major tertiary hospitals in Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney and Perth.
He pursued his specialty training in Respiratory Medicine at The Canberra Hospital and John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle. Subsequently, he completed a dedicated training year in Sleep Medicine at the Centre for Sleep Disorders & Respiratory Failure, St George Hospital, Sydney. He then moved to Perth for post fellowship sub-specialisation training (in Interstitial Lung Disease and Cystic Fibrosis) at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Currently, he is working as a consultant physician in General Medicine at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospital.
Dr Balakrishnan’s practice includes all facets of respiratory and sleep medicine. His special interest
and expertise are on interstitial lung disease, severe & complex airways disease (asthma, bronchiectasis, COPD), pulmonary hypertension, sleep disorders, respiratory failure and non-invasive ventilation. He is also qualified to perform pleural procedures and bronchoscopy.
He is dedicated in providing comprehensive evidence-based care alongside working with GPs’ and other specialists to achieve the best outcomes. Personalised medicine is at the forefront, incorporating a holistic approach, with his patients being empowered and advocated to be part of medical decision-making process. Focussing on patient-centred approach, Dr Balakrishnan is passionate in delivering excellent care with good communication, integrity and compassion.
