James is an experienced Consultant Respiratory Physician. He is committed to providing holistic and high-quality patient care. He is experienced in the diagnosis and management of a broad range of respiratory conditions.

Originally from Scotland, James studied science at the University of Glasgow, before embarking on a period of scientific research at University College London. Thereafter, he studied medicine and gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). He migrated to Australia in 2005, training in Sydney and Brisbane before being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Respiratory & Sleep Medicine and General & Acute Medicine. He has practiced as a Consultant Physician in North Queensland for the last 12 years. During this time, he was awarded a Fellowship of both the Edinburgh and Glasgow College of Physicians in recognition of his work. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at James Cook University and an examiner for the FRACP examination. He has published widely in medical journals and participated in clinical trials.

James special interests include lung cancer screening & the management of pulmonary nodules, nicotine addiction & smoking cessation therapies, diagnosis & staging of lung tumours, complex airways disease (including severe asthma), bronchiectasis & cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease and diseases of the pleura.

James has visited the Southwest several times in the last few years and is impressed by the rugged beauty, friendliness of the people and the local produce. He became determined to relocate and work here. James looks forward to providing healthcare for the population in the Southwest and becoming an active part of the local community.
